IT Support Technician
Full Time
Salary Range: $21.01 - $28.24
Purpose of Position: Support and maintain the health district’s computer systems, desktops, and peripherals. That includes installing, maintaining, diagnosing, repairing and upgrading hardware, software, and equipment including telephones, printers, and fax machines while ensuring optimal workstation performance. Troubleshoot problem areas (in person, by telephone, or via work order) in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end-user assistance where required.
Essential Job Functions:
Collaborate with Technology team members to ensure efficient operation of the health district’s computing environment.
Provide technical assistance via a variety of channels (mainly service desk but also walk-ins, phone calls, emails, IM’s) in a timely manner and to the satisfaction of the end user.
Set up equipment for employee use, performing or ensuring proper installation of cable, operating systems, and appropriate software.
Read technical manuals, confer with users, and conduct computer diagnostics to investigate and resolve problems and to provide technical assistance and support. If necessary, liaise with third-party support and equipment vendors.
Maintain computer hardware and peripherals in efficient operating order. Repair and recover from hardware and software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted areas.
Maintain record of daily data communication transactions, problems and remedial action taken, and installation activities.
Provide training to hospital staff on basic functions of hardware and software.
Assist in performing system monitoring and preventive maintenance related to software, hardware, databases, server resources, networks and systems.
Provide technical support for the integration of the health district information system with the network.
Confer with the staff to setup new employees with a network account, an email account, telephone, a badge and other appropriate computing needs including EMR access (security, template, and reports). Ensure that the proper access has been granted and works correctly.
Maintain appropriate archiving systems that are cost-effective and secure.
Cross train with IT staff to provide department call coverage and backup during vacations, etc.
Maintain work areas in a clean, orderly and secure manner.
Maintain cooperative working relationship with hospital staff, patients, other organizations, and the public to provide quality customer service in a courteous manner.
Follow all safety rules and procedures for work areas.
Job Qualification Requirements:
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of appropriate network skills and personal computer, server and peripheral equipment maintenance practices. Strong customer service orientation including good written, oral, and interpersonal skills. High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years related experience, or any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the above duties.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/LICENSES: Ability to obtain or have obtained CompTIA A+ certification and CompTIA Network+ certification.
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS: Specialized training in computer science equal to two (2) years of college.
