Phlebotomist, Part Time
Salary Range: $13.16 - $17.70
Purpose of Position: Procure blood specimens from patients using proper aseptic technique for the purpose of clinical testing.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Competency in aseptic phlebotomy technique for all age ranges of patients.
  • Properly identify patients and correctly label all specimen tubes.
  • Knowledge of test specimen requirements.
  • Basic knowledge of specimen processing. Have the ability to centrifuge specimen tubes as needed.
  • Complete various forms and log books, process send out specimens, and deliver reports to appropriate persons.
  • Stock drawing trays with supplies and restock shelves as needed. Order supplies as needed.
  • Maintain work areas in a clean, orderly and secure manner. Maintain cooperative working relationship with hospital staff, patients, other organizations, and the public to provide quality customer service in a courteous manner.
  • Follow all safety rules and procedures for work areas.
JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of phlebotomy and related recordkeeping procedures. Equivalent to a high school education with additional phlebotomy training, or any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the above duties.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/LICENSES: In order to meet the requirements mandated by the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act of 1988, Sec. 493.1423, documentation including diploma copy or official transcript of highest academic achievement must be provided at time of hire.
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS: Completion of a phlebotomy certification program with phlebotomy certificate, or previous experience as a Phlebotomist in a hospital environment.
