PURPOSE OF POSITION: Under the direction of the Physical Therapist, administers physical therapy treatment according to established professional standards and uphold patient safety in all interactions.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Assists the physical therapist in the treatment of individuals of all ages. Manage movement dysfunction and enhance physical and functional capabilities of patients.
Attentive to the needs of each patient. Helps set up patients on equipment and modalities.
Complete patient-related documentation ensuring content and timeliness to meet professional requirements and legal/regulatory specifications and ensuring accuracy of coding and billing.
Provide physical therapy services in acute care, inpatient rehabilitation and/or outpatient areas, as assigned.
Adhere to the state and national standards of ethics recognized by the Physical Therapy profession.
Responsible for utilizing safe lifting and assisting techniques with patients, utilizing all assist equipment available in hospital or PT clinic. May help train clinical staff in the safe transfer of patients, proper ergonomics.
Maintain confidentiality of patients through effective records management and practices.
Coordinate routine preventive maintenance, repair and calibration of therapy equipment with the contracted service vendor. Report equipment problems in a timely manner.
Maintain cooperative working relationship with hospital staff, patients, other organizations, and the public to provide quality customer service in a courteous manner.
Maintain work areas in a clean, orderly and secure manner. Participates in cleaning of equipment and treatment rooms.
Follow all safety rules and procedures for work areas.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS: Broad knowledge of physical therapy principles, practices and techniques. Knowledge of computer applications software and general office procedures. Knowledge of universal precautions. Graduate from an accredited school of Physical Therapy Program.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/LICENSES: Possession of current Oregon Physical Therapist Assistant license or certification, in good standing. Possession of current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Certification (CPR), or able to attain within 6 months of hire.
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS: Previous physical therapy experience in either clinical or hospital setting.
